Galerie Biesenbach was founded in 2012 and is run by its owner Stéphane Biesenbach in collaboration with Bettina Ruchty. The gallery's exhibition space was located on St. Apern-Strasse in downtown Cologne’s gallery centre. It has since moved just around the corner to Haus der Stiftungen (House of Foundations), Zeughausstrasse 26, 1st floor, 50667 Köln.

The focus of our work is set on international and contemporary painting and sculpture. We attach importance to achieve a balance between figurative and abstract positions in our programme, whereby one or the other always predominates.

We promote young artists and represent established positions.

In cooperation with galleries, art associations and museums, we support the work of our artists and show their works outside the gallery in individual and group exhibitions. 6 to 8 solo exhibitions and thematic group exhibitions per year as well as collaborations with curators sharpen the profile of the gallery. Since 2020, “online only” shows by our gallery artists or such as the ART MATTERS series – following 2 open artist calls per year – complete our programme.

For many years we have concentrated on our location in Cologne and since 2020 we have again regularly participated in art fairs, for example in 2020 and 2021 in paper positions berlin and POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair.

For private individuals and companies, we offer professional and individually tailored advice on the acquisition of 20th and 21st century art. Tailored to the personal goals of the customer, we support both established collectors and young art lovers who want to build their own collection.

We help and advise in the search for purchasing suitable works in artist's studios, galleries and art fairs.

The works by the artists we represent can be found in notable public and private collections.
