About Aduni Ogunsan ... more >

Aduni Ogunsan's (born 1997 in Tönis Vorst) painterly and sculptural works focus on very personal narratives. Her works often begin with a story from her close environment. Both family members and her own person are included in her choice of motifs. Postcolonial processes are worked through and the life experiences of the Afro-diaspora within Germany are explored. This examination leads from her own identity to socio-politically relevant questions about the historical reappraisal of Germany's colonial history to the visibility of Afro-German identity in today's society. The artist uses artistic valorisation processes to transform the banality of everyday life.
